Position Summary
Carry out the work needed to
demonstrate that the Materials specified for Bombardier internal and
external designs comply with in house, customer and approval authority
requirements for Fitness for Purpose Requirements.
Materials include 'furnishing'
materials, used on the interior, structural materials used on car body
applications (Soft Trim, Elastomers and Polymers) and processed
materials (eg Coatings, Thermoset Composites, Adhesive Bonding).
Assessments will be against
environmental requirements (temperature, corrosion electrolytes)
strength, wear resistance, cleanability, suitability for application etc
There will also be a requirement
to be the Project Materials Engineer on projects as required, so an
appreciation of rail vehicle fire safety management would also be
beneficial.
Key Accountabilities:
- Specification of requirements of materials to be specified on our designs.
- Management of these requirements being realized on our designs.
- Specification and management of realization of coating/adhesive and composites
- Leading Materials Engineering
input to key design and R&D projects, including liaison with
colleagues responsible for the same issues at other sites. specifications on our designs.
